Bank Failures and Citizens United V. Federal Election Comission
- 1. Banks gave out loans to everyone without having credit checks in 2008.
2. The Government had to close down banks to regain money
3. Super PACS didn't have any restrictions
4. The corporations started gaininig power.
5. Super PACS didn't have a limit to how much one can spend.
Summary: The bank failures all started when the banks started giving loans to anyone who needed them. The people who got granted loans were not able to pay back the banks. The banks started losing money and people withdrew their moneys right away. The Super PACS were helping political candidates by having ads made for them. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that corporations and unions have the same political speech rights as individuals under the First
Amendment. The Super PACS were being unfair because they are biased. There isn't a limit on how they wanted to practice free speech.
Thought: I think that it's not fair at all for the Super PACS to help the candidates with ads.
Quote: Super PACs and their wealthy outside donors aren’t having that one-on-one
conversation that we’re having through our campaign, and we think that will make
the difference. SOURCE: The Gazette
